Density Calculator

Density calculates the mass of a body contained in a unit volume. It is a quantitative term that measures the heaviness of a body or object. It explains how much mass a substance holds per single unit of volume. It is a physical property of matter, which is unique to every element in the world. Each and every matter in this universe has a different code for its density.

It is donated by p. According to the System International (SI) units, the unit of mass is “kg” and the unit of volume is “m3” so the unit of density will be kg/m3

Formula of Density Calculator

Its general formula is depicted from its definition i.e.,

p = m / v

Where,

ρ = density

m = mass

v = volume

You can also make variations using this formula i.e.,

To find Mass

m = pv

To find Volume

v = m/d

So density can be helpful in finding the mass of the object or the volume it occupies.

Note:

To calculate the volume of a cylinder, you can use our Cylinder Volume Calculator.

Example

If you have an object that has a mass of 25 kg, and it occupies a volume of 15 m3. What will be the density?

Given data

mass = 25 kg
volume = 15 m3

To Find

density = ?

Solution

To solve the above problem, we will use the formula listed below:

p = m / v

Putting values in the above equation

p = 25 / 15
p = 1.67 kg/m3.

Here we get the density of that object.

How to use Density Calculator?

The steps to use a density calculator are as follows:

Step 1: Enter the value of mass in the first required input.

Step 2: Enter the value of volume in the second required input.

Step 3: The calculator will automatically display an answer on the screen.
