Amplitude Definition

In physics, the amplitude is defined as the maximum distance or displacement among the covered by the wave from the central line to the highest or top point ( crest ) and the bottom point or point (trough).

In other words, the maximum displacement or distance covered by a wave from its equilibrium position is known as amplitude. It is equivalent to half of the length of the wave.

If amplitude of a wave is zero, that means there is the wavelength, and the wave doesn’t exist. However, there is no direct relation between amplitude and wavelength.
