In mathematics, arithmetic is an elementary branch which deals with the characteristics and use of numbers. The word Arithmetic is originated from the Greek word "arithmos", also known as numbers.

The studies in this branch involve numbers and traditional operations such as addition, division, subtraction and multiplication.

Moreover, the subject also involves percentages (used with multiplication) and exponents (used with division). For instance, All the numbers ranging from 0 to 9 are known as arithmetic numbers and All the operations like addition, division, subtraction, multiplication, percentage and exponents are known as arithmetic operations.
